Display All of Previous post in Beta

The classic template users of blogger shall be missing the “Previous Posts” lists in Beta. I too was missing that feature until i found out what feedburner could do.
You can either dispaly the desired number of posts (10.. as u desire ) or
display all of u r previous posts.

Wait..There is more..If you are managing more than one blog.. then you can list the “Posts of other blog(s)” and vice versa.See this in action here.I am managing 3 blogs, Horizon, Template Enhancements ,My Tamil blog. You shall be able to see all the posts in all the blogs in the left side bar.

HOW TO GET FEEDS FROM FEEDBURNER

  1. Sign up with feedburner.com
  2. Post your url and get u r feed
  3. Publicize
  4. BuzzBoost
  5. Perform the Feed Settings
  6. SAVE
  7. Take a good look at the Preview and then only..
  8. COPY-PASTE the code into a notepad

ADD THIS CODE IN THE TEMPLATE

  1. SAVE YOUR TEMPLATE
  2. Template–Add Page element
  3. Add HTML-Javascript
  4. Paste the code generated from Feedburner

Audio version of Posts

There are short-posts, long-posts, and really very long-posts. So how about making your posts into their Audio-Versions so that your reader now becomes your listener, and can continue to do his work while listening to your post. I thought its a pretty good idea and I have implimented it too, after seeing it in action in at Viveks’s blog

Are you wondering what I am talking about here? well.. do you see that the at the bottom of each post, go ahead, CLICK – OPEN.. this will open my posts in Audio format.

HOW TO ADD THE AUDIO VERSION TO YOUR POSTS

Vivek has given a detailed tutorial here

  1. Register with Talkr

  2. Make sure that your SETTINGS – SITE FEED – ALLOW BLOG FEED is set to FULL.

  3. Type the url (eg www.yourblog.com)at ADD RSS FEED.

  4. You are allowed to add multiple feeds. Notice that each feeds have unique Talkr feed id

  5. Clik on “Add Audio link for each entry” link

  6. Donot fail to test the feeds as per the instructions given

  7. Once your test feed works up to your satisfaction, then only proceed further. Belive me.. I had enough and more problems for overlooking the test.

  8. If you are using blogger beta you might want to know the TEMPLATE VARIABLE FOR PERMALINK inorder to make the audio feed work in the posts.Thanks to Vivek for helping me through this.

Technically you can add the above HTML code anywhere. But I feel its only natural to add it near the comments /QuickEdit links

  1. SAVE YOUR TEMPLATE BEFORE PROCEEDING

  3. Add the Talkr code immediatly below.

  4. Save the Template.

Creating & Uploading icons to be used in blogger

Blogger allows to add pictures to our posts. But for more graphic savy enthusiasts uploading .jpg,.gif etc will not guarantee satisfaction. Blogger does not allow to upload icons. This quest landed me here.Thanks to Improbulus. A careful reading through the post enlightened me about the procedure for creating & uploading icons.

CREATING ICONS

Option 1:-

Icons can be created in the systematic manner using Online fav-icon creator or any Icon creator.

Option 2:-

  1. You have a picture that you would like to use as icon, preferably 16×16 px (depending on how large you want your icon to be).

  2. Make sure that the picture is saved in your hard disk

  3. Conversion of pics to icons can be done here.

  4. upload your picture from the HardDisk.

  5. Generate FavIcon.

  6. As soon as the icon is generated – Download FavIcon.
    It is usually downloaded as .zip file and the icons are always named as favicon.icon.

  7. Extract favicon.ico from the zip file and rename it as per your convenience.

Now your icon is ready to be used

Option 3:-

  1. You have a picture that you would like to use as icon, preferably 16×16 px (depending on how large you want your icon to be)

  2. Download Irfan view from here and install. I personally prefer irfanview

  3. Open the picture you wish to use as icon in IrfanView
  4. FILE — SAVE As —save as .ico file

Now your icon is ready to be used

UPLOADING ICONS

Many webhosting services donot allow hosting of .ico files. After neckbreaking googling I narrowed down on Ripway and Imgzhost These are free file hosting & sharing service

  1. Register with Ripway ORImgzhost.
  2. Go to MY FILES
  3. UPLOAD FILES.
  4. You shall the list of file(s) that you have uploaded.

USING ICONS IN BLOGGER

  1. Signin to Ripway.
  2. MY FILES will list all your files.
  3. Besides each file you will see a COPY link. This link will give you the path to acess the .ico files.
  4. Use that link in the &LTimg src=”–YOUR ICON FILE PATH–“/> tag
  5. If you see that your icon is showing border while on display in the browser just use this instead
    &LTimg style=”border:none;” src=”-YOUR ICON FILE PATH-“/>

voila..you are using icons in your blogger posts. Hope this was helpful. Donot forget to backlink this post in your blog. A little appreciation goes a long way

Clash between the titans

We have seen fights and fistfights (and bullfights – occasionally on TV). Definitely not interested in the regular ones that we watch in the movies. There is a special kind of fight sequence we all are well aware of. This happens everyday at every house irrespective of the social status.

It is not uncommon to see a teenager and parents arguing with one another. Both seem to be correct in their own perspective. The problem seems to be in convincing the other person to see the respective point of view. The bottom-line is “WHY DONOT YOU LISTEN TO WHAT I HAVE TO SAY”.

Both imagine that LISTENING = ACCEPTING, which is where the battle starts and ends in a war of words followed by stomping of the foot or closing the door with a loud thud. By the end of the day it’s the hormones that take all the blame.

How many of us had seriously given a thought about “Hearing & Listening”.We HEAR a song to relax our nerves, but we LISTEN to the same song trying to memorize its lyrics and identify the nuances of the music involved.

Any teenager will declare that the parents never take effort to understand their feelings or thoughts, and vice versa. Both are individuals with intelligence and intellect with the ability to reason things out.

The only reason that I personally feel that they are not able to convey one-another’s thought process is due to the difference in the activity level. On one hand the teenagers are hyperactive, thinking in the speed of light, whereas their parents have mellowed down a bit and desperately need the intermittent much-needed-slow-down-phase.

Teenagers don’t need advice; they will learn it as they grow. But as parents you can suggest solution to their problem instead of yelling “If you had did ( or did not do) what I said, this problem would not have arisen in the first place”.

Parents see themselves in their children. Hence its only natural &instinctive for them to correct you even before you think of something that might go wrong. This is defentely far fetched, but atlest do make an attempt towards trying to understand.

Finally-“You are a teenager with raging hormones and they are parents with raging temper”.

If you LISTEN, then they will ACCEPT, is something that both should try to remember

Each one would have noticed the variety of visitors who come to your blog. So why not cater to a wider audience, by allowing auto-translation of your blogs. Do you see those flags at the top of this page..go ahead, clik one and you will see that this blog gets translated automatically.Googling landed me at Amit’s post.I am merely replicating Amit’s Translation Instruction so that people who stumble on my blog can also have the oppurtuniy to know about this feature. I must add that i did modify his instruction a little bit to make it work for me.This is how i did it
