Daybreak through the clouds

Very recently I had to board an early moring flight to Chennai from Cochin(5.30 am) with my mother. We reached the airport at about 4.30am.It was not until the call for security clearence, It dawned on me that I am having an oppurtunity of lifetime to see the Sun-Rise from the sky…coz..u see.. I am not a frequent flyer.

Although I did not have the chance to see “THE SUNRISE”..,
I saw the dawn break sipping a cup of “SUNRISE”.
I also managed to get some photos using my Samsung X650 mobile..

So, Next time – any of you with a camera phone on flight dont forget to take snaps.
They might come out really great.
..psst..dont let the Flight-crew see you swich on the mobile in flight
rest.. its great

Notice how gradually
the sky gets lighted up.
Truly an out of the
world experince.
Lets use technology
for capturing great
moments which we
take for granted

Mehendi Facts & Tips

Mehendi or henna as more commonly known across India is used for decorating ones hands / legs .It is like a temporary tattoo.

The basic colour of mehendi / henna is reddish brown (or) maroonish.

The black-henna / blue henna uses chemicals added to the original henna. So this is CHEMO-HERBAL mixture. So get any allergy test done before using them.

My personal advice is never use any of those henna-types with even 0.5% chemical, whatever the attraction it provides in the aspect of asthetics – cool look-in thing.
Donot belive anyone who says…no problem .. the allergic reaction will go away as soon as the henna fades off.
So for all those Tattoo lovers.. if you are not sure as to how the design might turn up on your skin..do a little home-work….find out your nearest mehendi artist and get the tattoo drawn.

If u like the way it looks and the pople’s reaction to that design, then you can get it done permanently

or else.. nothing is lost .. it will fade away in a couple of weeks and you can decide over a new tattoo

Few Facts:-
Botanical name:-Lawsonia inermis

How Henna came to India:-
The henna plant is thought to come from Egypt where it was called Egyptian Privet. Later henna was brought to India as a state gift from the Egyptians. Queen Mumtaz who ruled in the 1600’s was the first Indian queen to be decorated with henna

What gives Henna its color to our skin:-
LAWSONE, the chief constituent responsible for the dyeing .
…more historical facts…

Added Advantages of Henna
This is used as hair dye and is a great conditioner
Henna applied to hair on hot summer days actuallt cools you off

For achiveing best colour on the skin:
Henna usually gives out its best colour on those pople who have comparitively heigher body heat. So intially just try out the ordinary procedure

Test the color intensity

Procedure for enhanced colour

Wash hands

Apply henna

if cone is prepared personally add few drops of Eucalyptus oil

Allow to dry naturally

If they seem to fall sooner.. then

Henna flakes will fall off due to lack of moistrure

Add pinch of sugar in a cup of water, dissolve well, smuge this using cotton over the henna. This will stick the flakes

Scrape off the remaining flakes using the back end of a spoon

WAIT !!! DONOT WASH IN WATER

MUST NEVER wash immediatly

Donot allow contact with water for next 4 hrs

IMPORTANT

Dont feel disheartened..the colur is yet to come

PATIENCE

Use cotton ball dipped in coconut oil and smear over the design

MUST DO THIS

Let it dry for min 4 hrs

Now you shall be seeing the perfect color of henna over your skin-type
Its due to this lenghty time-consuming “waiting” period henna is usually applied at night
In case where you have to come in contact with water with your mehendi’ed hands, apply lots and lots of coconut oil. This will act as protective layer.

So get your designs ready and spend 5/- for a cone over this weekend.

My Mehendi designs

Applied using ordinary Mehendi cone availabe in the market
Black mehendi – color dyes are not used due to their unhealthy properties

Few Designs drawn by me
I have included the pics taken immediatly after the henna
was applied (greenish black color) and After henna has been removed and when the colour takes on its true shade on the skin.
I have also used Photoshop to give some background effects.

Vande Mataram

Song :-Vande Mataram

Status :-National Song of India
Language :-Bangala
Composer : Bankim Chandra Chatterjee (BCC)
Composed on :1876
Published on :1882 in “Anandamatha” authored by BankimChandra Chaterjee
Controversial Refrences:-
Refrence to “shakti” Diety with 70 million hands ( defenitly durga)
Facts
  1. Rabindranath Tagore’s rejection of the song in his letter to Subhas Chandra Bose (1937)–“””””The core of ‘Vande Mataram’ is a hymn to goddess Durga””””””..Defenily anyone practising Islam would not want to relate a deity with 70 million hands to motherland.
  2. Jawaharlal Nehru, apparently after seeking opinion of Rabindranath Tagore in 1937, made the Congress party sign a mandate that “only the first two stanzas should be sung”. Sure, for rest of the song had direct references to goddess Durga and Kali.

What happened during 22-28 August 2006:
  • Arjun Singh had all state governments to ensure that the first two stanzas of the song were sung in all schools on Sept-7 BJP
  • Deputy Leader V K Malhotra wanted the Government to clarify whether singing the national song schools was mandatory or not.
  • The BJP has objected to the (United Progressive Alliance)UPA government’s decision to make singing of the song, optional.
The way I see it:-
The “Optional-Compulsory” has been debetaed over and over again durind the 1930’s. Similar protests were raised by people practising Islam regarding the refrences made to Godess Kali/Durga. Paying homage to a deity other than Allah is not acceptable in Islam. Its for the very reason, respecting their sentiments Mr.Neheru issued a mandate stating “only the first two stanzas should be sung”.

When seen from the perspective of the poet(BCC), who was a Hindu from Bengal where Goddess Durga-Kali is the presiding deity, and an active member in the freedom movement… its only natural that he placed the motherland in the same pedestal as that of the deity whom he worshipped with such a reverence. Lets not forget that this song was written at a time when just a mention of “Vande Mataram” would result in jail-term.

Nevertheless, many went to jail ( including people from Islam) for uttering Vande Mataram. Well.. during those time they were more worried about initaiating a freedom movement for our country rather than dissecting the meaning of the song and worry about its religious overtones.

The first two stanzas speak about resepcting one’s Motherland and worshipping nature.

I belive singing 1-2 stanzas must be ok with our Islamic brethren
Nowhere I remember seeing that “Entire song must be sung”.
so whats all the fuss about..???…???? Lets have sane-rational discusion here without provoking any abusive behaviour(I know i am treading on thin ice)

If you feel that I have furnished incorrect information .. Please include the correct details in your comment
I am willing to apologize incase i have hurt your religious sentiments.
