Typical freelancers take up projects as and when it suits them. Savvy entrepreneurs take up projects within their realm, then acquire talent to fulfill the obligation. A Homepreneur® does both — stays meaningfully engaged through the day, while preserving the discipline to switch off.
That balance is not a limitation. It is a deliberate, sustainable way to deliver consistent, high-quality work over the long term.
I did my Masters in Fisheries and Aquatic Biology from MS University of Baroda. After college, I was introduced to computers — and something clicked. Not formally, not through a course. Just curiosity, and the willingness to figure things out.
One thing led to another. In 2007, I started blogging — not for money, not with a plan, but simply to spend my time doing something that felt worthwhile. After a couple of years, a client approached and offered to pay for content. That was the beginning.
I took in any project that came my way. Got some really nice people as clients, team members, and associates. I also had my share of lost projects — burnt my fingers with clients who did not show up when the invoice was raised.
I am happy for the mistakes that I did. If not for them, I wouldn’t be here.
Zoho Creator came into my life in 2007. As a complete non-techie, I built a fully functional app — one that actually helped me manage a writing team, track submissions, handle version control, approvals, and payments. It worked. That was the moment everything changed.
Success breeds confidence. That first app gave me the push to pour hours into Zoho’s documentation — and eventually master Deluge, Zoho’s proprietary scripting language. It is not something most people go deep enough to learn. I did. And it opened doors that a point-and-click tool never could.
