Modifying your Date-Header

The Date Header is something that appears right above each post.Depending on the template chosen..the date-headers will be dispalyed in a certain font-size-color.
However its possible to give an entirely different look to your date header

  1. SAVE AND BACK UP YOUR TEMPLATE

  2. Locate……
    <Variable name=”dateheadercolor” description=”Date Header Color” type=”color” default=”#4F5052″>
    This determines the color in which the date header is displayed.You can Give the color of your choice by modifying the default=”#4F5052″.In order to know the Hexadecimal Value of the color that you would like to use..refer to
    Hexa-decimal Color chart

  3. Locate……

    margin-right: 10px;
    margin-left:10px;

  4. Here you may modify the font-family , font-size , color ie..The Color in which you want the date to appear ..eg:-My date header appears in maroon color

BDA Complexes in Bangaore

Bangalore Apart from being an IT Hub.. its also famous for its Malls…like the Forum Mall, Garuda Mall.., Family Mart..etc etc..
I understand that by “Mall”.. is a place where you get to hangout and also do some shopping.. the genere of shops could vary from Eateries-Dress-HomeDecor-Personal Needs–etc..etc..hey.. wake up people.. such places have already been developed by the BDA (Bangalore Development Authority).

Does the word BDA_COMPLEXES-ring any bell…BDA (Bangalore Development Authority)has built shopping complexes in most of the layouts developed by the government. There are about 12 such complexes at important localities in bangalore and each such complex houses 20 -25shops in 3-4 floors..

The only diffrence between a Mall and the BDA-Complexes is , Malls are “under one roof” kind of atmospehere…while BDA Complexes are not.

The Railway Reservation counter and State Transport Reservation counter at all the complexes is a great boon for the residents of Bangalore.Not all People travel by flight and not all of them can afford to book Railway tickets by
soliciting the services of Travel Agents.There are still some section of our population who are verymuch think twice before parting with the extra penny.Its indeed a boon that they can have their tickets booked by sparing a few minutes walk to the nearest BDA Complex
Bangalore ONE counter is where you get to pay all your bills at all time.This counter operates 24 x 7.Here you can pay your Electricity bills, Water bill, Phone bill, Road Tax, HouseTax (& other taxes too), when the friendly neighborhood cop decides to stop you at the middle of the night when you are comming from a party and hands you the fine to be paid…you need not go to the Police station ..Bangalore ONE is your destination..This counter accepts all payments in Cash-Card-Cheqhe.. and after 8.00 pm its eihter Card or Cheque..you wouldnt want to be roaming at night with cash.. dont you.Thats not all.. They also accept PASSPOT & DRIVING LISCENCE applications…what more could an average citizen ask for
The Public Libraryat all the complexes are a great place to gather for the senior members of the socitey.Ever tried to listen to their discussions… from local to global.. all matters are discussed…They too need place and space to hang aroud and have a chit-chat..someday that place is where we will be .

Blogging in Indian Languages

There are many Indian- bloggers out there who would like to blog in their regional language as well.. in addition to blogging in english.. but lack of proper guidelines to acomplish this ..is a real pain and many quit even before they start.

This is my attempt at providing guidelines to blog in the 11 Indian languages listed here.It is well known that inorder to read the contents written in any language , we need to have the requisite fonts installed.For the puropse of reading-writing and positing in the listed Indian languages, I Shall be using Baraha for the following
reasons

  • This is a translitaor…ie you can write in the reagional language by typing in english..The texts in blue are typed in the Baraha-Editor while the text in Magenta are waht you see when you give the appropriate language settings

    • Typed in english
    Text in Regional Language
    namaste >        नमस्ते
    namaste          નમસ્ત ે
    namaskaarakaLu         ನಮಸ್ಕಾರಕಳು
    namaskaaraM >        നമസ്കാരം
    praNaam >        प्रणाम्

  • You need not switch between s/w if you want to incorporate text from anyother language in the same content

    •         In Baraha you can write in Englsih,tamizh, hindi, gujaraatI, kannaDa malayaaLaM ,sanskrit

            In Baraha you can write in Englsih,தமிழ், हिन्दि, ગુજરાતી, ಕನ್ನಡ മലയാളം , सन्स्क्रित्

  • No need to include any seperate font file in the template to make this work with blogger.

HOW TO DO THIS ….SO THAT I CAN ALSO START BLOGGING (..COMMENTING…) IN INDIAN LANGUAGES

  1. Equip yourself to the read the webpages that publish in the language of your choice

    Decide on the language that you would be primarily posting on..because you need to install the respective fonts in yoursystem..For TamilFonts Click Here..,SELECT-LOCATION —INSTALLfor the rest I would suggest that you visit any popular site in the language f your choice..they will be able to direct you towards installing required fonts.

  2. Gear up to write in the language of your choice

    In order to acomplish this..

    • Download and install Baraha7 here
    • Open Baraha—Edit–Default Settings
    • Select LANGUAGE OF YOUR CHOICE from the language drop down list
    • Clik ok

    • Now start typing in englsih.. you will see the characters taking shape

    However you need to read though the Transiletaration-Rules and Transiletaration-Examples specified under each language in HELP
    This will give you an understanding towards when to use Capital-case letters and when to use SmallCase letters

  3. This is how you paste your content written in Baraha
    • Open the respective baraha document..written in the regional language.

    • Select the text you want to display in regional language (or use EDIT–SELECT ALL)
    • In the window where the regional-language characters appear as you type—Right click

    • Copy special–Text UNICODE The Ordinary Copy option will not work towards pasting the characters of regional language

    • Paste — in your Post (..comments..) page

Now you have sucessfully publised a text in one of the Regional Languages… Congradulations. Hope the instructions were easy to follow and enable you to convey your ideas in regional languages as well..expand your horizon..Donot forget to be

Upgrade your Salwar kameez

Imagine a ticket counter or a bus-stand, The minute any mobile phone rings in the vicinity..almost everyone (except some males who have activated the vibration mode)..goes into a frenzy to locate their phone..I have seen ladies fumbling their handbag whenever a mobile rings in their vicinity..ie.. just not sure whose phone is ringing..By the time they get a hold of their phone (amongst the many essential items in the handbag)..you either hear a “hello”..in answer to the call , or the call would have been registered as missed call…

Cell phones has become an integral part of our day to day life.And the western outfits give us the luxury of haivng a pocket for cell phones.. hence when we set our phone to vibrate mode..we know exactly when our phone is ringing. The Ladies-handbag manufacturers have come up with a design where all handbags have a pouch to hold the cellphone..a very thoughtful gesture indeed..But..tell me ladies

Do you always carry your handbag when you are out of the house…??….do you carry the handbag when you go for your Brisk-Morning walk ..or …an urgent run to the nearest shop to get some emergency supply of bread-butter-Milk

At such times .. Iwanted to have my cellphone but at the same time higly impractical to carry the handbag. I either left my phone at home or just held it in my hand..but i was always paranoid that I will forget my phone at some shop counter and may never hear about it again….You see.. I am not the person who wears western outfits like jeans and skirts very often.. so i had to figureout something that will work on a day to day basis.It was then the idea hit me of having a pocket in my salwar kameez..Million Thanks to my Tailor…he was so patient with me during the inital stages of getting the pocket right with the correct measurements… and .. its correct placement.. and at the same time not causing any damage to the beauty of the salwar-kameez itself.

My fellow sisters would agree that even an ordinary looking 2 1/2 meter cloth will look stunning if only the tailor can stich it with the curves at the right places.So i was not willing to compromise on asthetics.Now.. I am a happy person who has pockets in all the salwar-kameez..(ones that i way at home and also those dresses that I wear formally to a party /office/and all)..Its been 2-3 yrs since I first had a pocket at my kameez made from and old saree cloth for test purposes…now i dont blink twice before telling my tailor that i want the dress stiched with a pocket..Well.. this has earned me a new nickname..”Pocket-wali madam”..

  1. The position of the pocket is just below the hips and 2-21/2 inches above the slit.
    • This gives a normal-easy reach
    • you need not take too much of elbow space to reach into your pocket… hence minimal disturbance to the person near you
  1. Just have your palm measured and adjust the opening of the pocket accordingly …this is just to make sure that you can comfortably reach into your pocket…Just dont keep it too wide..
  2. The opening of the pocket is “slanting” complimenting the design of the kameez,.. ie..the line of stich (pocket and the kameez) appear in one single line ..there- by not compromising on the curve near the hips.. the main curvy design of the kameez is maintained.
  3. The 4″ Wide base of the pocket gives you enough room to put in your hand and reach for the phone (anything) without having to do any kind of acrobatics with your fingers
  4. Its is best taht you use the same cloth as that of your kameez for the pocket..the reason being..if you are using a lining cloth-or any other cloth for the pocket ..there are chances that it might appear as a patch..If you feel that your kameez fabric is too flimsy to be used as a pocket..ask your tailor to use the lining cloth give lining to the pocket as well…Trust me…this is worth the effort.

My Tailor charges me an extra 10/- bucks for having a pocket. Talk to your tailor .. afterall he too would like a pro-active customer…A word of caution.. for the first trial..use some old unused cotton sarees… or try buying some cheap salwar-kameez material ..that might rougly cost you about 100/- to 150/-

சகோதரி… Cell Phone வைச்சுக்க கஷ்டப்படுகிறாயா ?

Cell Phone வைச்சுக்க என்ன கஷ்டம் இருக்க போகுதுன்னு தானே யோசிக்கரீங்க..ஆம்பளைங்க எல்லாம் வசதியா Pocketல Vibrate modeல வைச்சு..கூட்டத்துல Phone மணி அடிச்சா..அது அவங்களுடைய Phone தானா இல்லையான்னு சலனப்படாம தெரிஞ்சுப்பாங்க..ஆனா நமக்கு அப்படி இல்லையே..
Pouch வைச்ச Hand bag உள்ளவங்க..பரவாயில்லை.. வசதி தான்..சாதாரண Hand Bag கா இருந்தா.. ஒரு மணி அடிச்சா.. பல கைகள் Handbag கூட ஒரு யுத்தமே நடத்தும்.. கடைசீல.. யாருடைய Phone ணோ அவங்க.. Public Announcement பண்ணுவாங்க..”ஹீ..ஹீ..என்னுது தான்..” அப்பொ தான் கலவரம் அடங்கின மாதிரி இருக்கும்.

அது மட்டும் இல்லை.. எல்லா நேரத்துலையும்..எல்லா இடத்துக்கும் Handbag ஐ தூக்கிக்கிட்டு அலைய முடியாது. தெரு முனையிலெ இருக்கும் கடையில் இஞ்சி-பச்சமிளகாய் வாங்கணும்னா CellPhone ண வீட்டுலெ வைச்சுகிட்டு போகமுடியாது…( முக்கியமான call வந்தா .. ???? ) ..கையிலெ சும்மா வைச்சுகிட்டு போனோம்னா ..ஏதாவது கடையிலெ வச்சு மறந்து பொயிட்டா..??.. அப்படீங்கற பயம்.. அய்யய்ய… ஒரே ஹிம்சை

தமிழ் நாட்டு கலாச்சார உடை புடவைதான்…மறுக்கலை.. ஆனா கல்லூரி – வேலைக்கு போகும் பெண்களுக்கு வசதி Salwar kameez தான் என்பதையும் மறுக்க முடியாது.அதனால Handbag கூட யுத்தம் பண்ணுவதை avoid பண்ண என் Salwar Kameez க்கு Pocket வெச்சா எப்படி இருக்கும்ன்னு 2003 ல try பண்ணினேன்..இப்பொ எந்த வித யுத்தமும் இல்லாம நிம்மதியா இருக்கேன். Daily wear & Formal Wear Salwar kameezக்கு எல்லாம் இப்பொ Pocket இருக்கு

பெண்கள் உடையிலெ ஏதாவது மாற்றம் பண்ணவதுக்கு முன்னாடி நிறைய HomeWork பண்ணவேண்டியிருக்கு … அதாவது.. No compromise on the asthetics and at the same time extract the full purpose. அதனால் சகொதரி..உங்களுடைய Dress உடைய அழகுக்கு எந்தவிதமான பாதிப்பும் இல்லாம தான் salwar kameez ல pocket வைக்கிரதை சொல்லப்போறேன்

  • இது ஒரு Straight pocket..அதாவது கைய்யை கோணா-மாணா ன்னு திருப்பி கஷ்டப்படவேண்டியது இல்லை
  • The opening of the pocket must be atlest 2″ greater than the width of your palm அப்பொ தான் ஜாஸ்தி Elbow-space useபண்ணாமல், அக்கம்-பக்கத்துல இருக்கிறவங்களை முழங்கையால குத்தாம Pocket ல் இருந்து Phone – Keys எடுக்கமுடியும்
  • Pocket is placed below the curve of the hips.அதநால் Drees அழகு கெடுவதுக்கு வாய்ப்பே இல்லை
  • 4″ base இருக்கு அதனால் Phone அல்லது வேறுயெதையாவதை எடுக்க விரல்களை circus பண்ணவேண்டியதில்லை

எனக்கு ஒரு உண்மை தெரிஞ்சாகணும்… Soup சைவமா – அசைவமா?

இந்த சந்தேகம் Vijay TV பார்த்ததுக்கப்புறம் தான் வந்த்தது. நேற்று 24-Dec-2006, Vijay-Tv ல் “நீயா-நானா”..நிகழ்ச்சிய்யை பாதியிலிருந்து பார்த்தேனா….எனக்கு தலைப்பு correct ஆ ஞ்யாபகம் வரலை..கிட்ட-தட்ட இப்படி இருந்தது “நமது உணவு பழக்கங்களின் காரணமாக, சமுதாய-வெறுபாடு காண்கிறோமா?”

அதாவது அசைவம் சாபிடுகிறவங்க “எங்களுடைய உணவில் தான் Balanced diet (B-complex vitamins are found in abundance only in meat products) ” என்றும்…சைவம் சாப்பிடுகிரவங்க “எங்கள் உணவிலும் Balanced diet( spinach & etc for bcomplex vitamins) உண்டு .. அப்படின்னு என்னெனமோ சொல்லிகிட்டே பொனாங்க..

அதில் Hotel Industry ல் அனுபவம் உள்ள ஒரு நபர் (அசைவம் சாப்பிடுகிரவர்) சொன்னார்…..ஹோட்டலில் .. 3-Star; 5-star..any star அசைவம் சமைக்கும் தண்ணீரில் .. அதாவது..அசைவ உணவை வேகவைக்க பயன்படுத்தும் வென்னீரில் தான் Veg-soup பும் செய்கிரார்கள். அதனால்தான் Soupக்கு இருக்கும் தனிபட்ட வாசனை Veg-Soupல் வருகிறது.

இது உண்மையா..தயவு செய்து விஷயம் தெரிந்தவர்கள்– Hotel Industry & Catering Technology ல் அனுபவம் உள்ளவங்க “”உள்ளதை உள்ளபடி”..மறைக்காம சொல்லுங்க.

நான் ஒரு Eggitarian (ie..Vegitarian who eats egg only) எனக்கு அசைவம் சாப்பிடுகிரவங்க கிட்டே எந்த விரோதமும் இல்லை.. Zoology படித்த காரணமோ என்னமோ .. வேட்டுகிறது – அறுக்கிறது பாக்க அறுவெறுப்பு கிடையாது.. TV ல் அசைவ சமையல் பாத்து–அவங்க உபயோக படுத்துகிர Meat க்கு பதில் உருளைக்கிழங்கு போட்டு சமைச்சு இருக்கேன்… (Recipies எல்லாம் நல்லா தான் இருந்துது)..

ஆக soupஐ தவிர்க்க முடியாது. எங்க வீட்டு பாட்டி ஒரு Strict vegitarian அவங்க Soup – IceCream விட்டா ஹொட்டலில் வேறெதுவும் சாப்பிடமாட்டாங்க… So..This is a Humble request to all my readers ஹோட்டலில் .. 3-Star; 5-star..any star அசைவம் சமைக்கும் தண்ணீரில் .. அதாவது..அசைவ உணவை வேகவைக்க பயன்படுத்தும் வென்னீரில் தான் Veg-soup பும் செய்கிரார்கள்.

இது உண்மையா இல்லையா…உங்களுக்கு தெரிஞ்சா மறைக்காம சொல்லுங்க.. முடிஞ்சா Hotel Industry & Catering Technology ல் அனுபவம் உள்ளவங்க கிட்டே சிரமம் பார்க்காம கேட்டு சொல்லுங்க..

ஹம்..ஹம்.. எங்க பெரிய-பாட்டி Great-Grandmother சொல்லுவாங்க….”அந்த காலத்துல வெளியூர் போனா..ஒரு Special Cooking kit எடுத்து போவாங்களாம்.. அந்த kit ல் ஒரு குட்டியூண்டு கும்முட்டி-ஆடுப்பு.. 2 பாத்திரம் (அரிசி & குழம்பு /ரசம் வைக்க) 3 கரண்டி (அரிசி & குழம்பு /ரசம் & தையிர்), கரி வைக்க ஒரு pouch எல்லாம் இருக்குமாம்.

Have a Static Background

How about a picture that stays in its place as a background for your blog.. and the rest of the blog contents moves over it..Something that you can see here.Instructions to do this to your blog is as follows.Read on..

  1. SAVE AND BACK UP YOUR TEMPLATE< /span>
  2. Its my personal experience that uplaoding the pic to blogger and then using that URL to act as background does not work quite the way we want it to.So its best to use some file hosting service that allows backlinking.I have used Fileden.

  3. In your Template-Edit HTML Locate the
    body {
    margin:0;
    text-align:center;
    line-height: 1.5em;
    font: x-small Trebuchet MS, Verdana, Arial, Sans-serif;
    }

  4. To that add the following
    background-image: url(“URL of the background picture“);
    background-repeat: no-repeat;
    background-attachment:fixed;
    background-position: center top;

  5. Now your final code might look like this
    body
    {
    background-image: url(“(“URL of the background picture“);
    background-repeat: no-repeat;
    background-attachment:fixed;
    background-position: center top;
    margin:0;
    text-align:center;
